The largest solar power plant launched in Bangladesh : light spread in the northern region
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this power plant as a part of fulfilling the promise of improving the quality of life for the people of the north, whose success has already started to be felt by the people of the northern region.
The largest solar power plant in the country and one of the largest in Asia has been built on 600 acres of land in Sundarganj, a town in the north of Gaibandha. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated it on August 2. At the same time, he witnessed this huge power plant from the sky by sitting in a helicopter. The people of the northern region have been getting uninterrupted power since the center became operational. Business, industry and agriculture sectors have increased speed.
Since last December, the power of the center was gradually being connected to the national grid. This time, as all the panels are connected, the production capacity of this center has reached 200 MW. Beximco Power Limited has developed this center named Teesta Solar Limited.
The construction of the huge center in Latshala area of Teesta Par started in 2017. 5.5 lakh solar panels were installed. A 35 km power transmission line of 122 towers of 132 kilowatt volts has been constructed from Sundarganj's Teesta Par to Rangpur to connect the produced electricity to the national grid. Substations have been constructed, all types of equipment including inverters have been installed.
A dam and seven kilometers of roads have been built to protect the power plant from natural disasters like floods and river erosion.
